The new 7-seater VW Tayron: more than a big Tiguan
The new Tayron is here! – This five- or optionally seven-seater SUV is positioned between the Touareg (premium class) and the Tiguan (middle class). Authenticity: the design stands out decisively with a powerful profile and demonstrates a visible belonging to the Volkswagen SUV family. Best in class in terms of comfort. Excellence: the feeling of high quality comes from every element and detail. Generosity: optimal utilization of useful volume. The impressive volume of the luggage compartment of the new Tayron, with five passengers on board, reaches 885 l. Volkswagen will offer the new Tayron with a total of seven efficient drive systems. The range also includes two new-generation plug-in hybrid drives (eHybrid). They are a highly innovative drive solution, as they allow over 100 km of electric range in everyday life and efficiency on long journeys, allowing a total range of around 850 km from charge to charge. In addition, the ability to tow up to 2.5t makes the new Tayron a stylish, well-equipped towing vehicle for trailers of all shapes and sizes piese VW online.
With a length of almost 4.8 m (4770 mm), the new Tayron stands out with a definite and striking SUV design. The profile is clean and powerful. Extremely precisely directed lines divide the surfaces and give the silhouette impressive contours: a characteristic line starts from the front hood, then creates a slight edge under the lower edge of the side windows and continues to the D-pillars. Up front, LED headlights and the standard illuminated Volkswagen emblem create an unmistakable light signature as night falls. The same applies to the rear of the SUV, where there is a continuous LED crossbar in all versions. A narrow LED strip runs from left to right across the top of the taillights and visually emphasizes the width of the Tayron. In its middle part, the band narrows; The lower half of the VW logo, which is also illuminated in red, stands visually free.
Precise lines, an elongated roof area and narrow joints emphasize the silhouette of the Tayron, demonstrating its character as a high-quality and extremely solid SUV.
The same approach has been applied to the interior of the new Tayron. It is distinguished by high quality materials, clean and stylish design. The materials used in the interior are soft and pleasant to the touch, which together with the connected cockpit and the abundance of space, creates a calm and harmonious atmosphere. Depending on the equipment, the surfaces are refined with edging, fine contrast stitching, large surfaces covered with ArtVelours Eco in the area of the door recesses, which are usually found in exclusive sports cars, and even applications of real wood with open pores.
The range of standard assistance systems from the Life level on the new Tayron is also extensive. It includes adaptive cruise control (ACC), cornering assistant, lane change system (Side Assist), lane keeping system (Lane Assist), automatic emergency braking system, including monitoring of pedestrians and cyclists (Front Assist), Park Assist Plus, a system with a rear view camera, dynamic recognition of road signs and a warning system for the next exit. The new warning system when getting out of the car is also standard. This is an extension of the lane change system and, within the system's limitations, can prevent any of the car's doors from opening in the event of another vehicle approaching from behind. The system issues both audible and visual warnings.
In addition to all versions of the mild hybrid drive (eTSI), Volkswagen will offer the Tayron with two plug-in hybrid drives (eHybrid), two turbo gasoline engines (TSI) and two turbo diesel engines (TDI). In all versions of the Tayron, shifting is done by a dual-clutch (DSG) automatic transmission. Although the base eTSI engine with an output of 110 kW (150 hp) has all the qualities to be defined as a high-tech drive system (mild hybrid with 48 V technology), the advantages of electric and gasoline drive are optimally combined in both innovative plug-in hybrid drives. In both cases, they provide system outputs of 150 kW (204 PS)5 and 200 kW (272 PS)6 respectively. Thanks to a 19.7 kWh (net) battery, both versions of the Tayron eHybrid can achieve an electric range of over 100 km. The battery can be charged not only in AC wallboxes and AC charging stations with 11 kW, but also – like an electric car – also in DC fast charging stations with up to 50 kW. The largest TDI with 142 kW (193 hp) is very economical and comes with 4MOTION four-wheel drive as standard.
