Toyota celebrated the production of its 5 millionth car in the UK
Toyota Motor Europe marks the production of its five millionth vehicle at the Burnaston plant in Derbyshire. The car that marked this number is a hybrid Corolla GR Sport hatchback that rolled off the assembly line earlier this month. This achievement underlines Burnaston's role as a key component in Toyota's European manufacturing network and in the UK automotive sector magazine de piese auto.
Since the plant was founded in 1989, more than €3.25 billion has been invested in it to ensure it remains at the forefront of new technologies and production methods. Burnaston is the first Toyota facility outside of Japan to produces hybrid cars and continues to be a center of expertise in this field. Today, 100 percent of the plant's production is engaged in hybrid cars.
Dariusz Mikolajczak, managing director of the Burnaston plant, comments: “This milestone represents more than just a numerical achievement. It reflects our contribution to the economy and our commitment to building ever better cars, embracing new technologies and building strong relationships with our suppliers, partners and local communities. This success is a testament to the dedication of all our members, past and present. Filtru aer Clean filters.

Toyota manufacturing in the UK The UK plays an important role in Toyota's European operations. It was here that Toyota built its first production facilities in Europe, establishing Toyota Manufacturing UK (TMUK) with an engine plant in Deeside, North Wales, and a car plant in Burnaston, near Derby. These plants were put into operation in 1992, and since then Toyota has invested 3.25 billion euros in activities related to their operation. Today, TMUK directly employs around 3,000 people, with many thousands more indirectly linked in an extensive supply chain. The majority of TMUK's automotive production (about 85%) is exported, mostly to the European Union and other European markets.
