M235 Gran Coupé with less power in the facelift

After the 3-door Series 2, BMW also gave the Gran Coupé a facelift – in addition to a renewed design, the model finally got a Curved Display magazin online de piese auto.

M235 Gran Coupé with less power in the facelift

The 3-door Series 2 Coupé got a facelift in the summer of 2024 – it was only a matter of time before the big five-door brother got one too. Now we have also been presented with the modernized Series 2 Gran Coupé.

The market launch of the model is in 2025, and the Series 2 Gran Coupé 220 with a gasoline engine (the "i" is now dropped from the designations so as not to be confused with BMW's electric models) starts from about BGN 82,000 Rulment roata Snr.

The top model M235 will be available at a price of nearly BGN 120,000. The basic diesel version 218d costs BGN 83,000, and the most powerful 220d – BGN 88,000.

There are no big surprises in appearance. In the front there are narrower kidneys and headlights. The characteristic grille is now positioned below the headlights, which have a new shape and a naturally angry look. LED lights are standard, matrix LED lights are an extra charge.

The new bumper highlights the center vent, while the side air vents appear larger. The BMW logo is now embedded like on the new M4.

The new rear lights on the Gran Coupé look more aggressive. The light signature is new. In ordinary models, there are no end exhaust pipes protruding from the bumper, only in the top model M235 it is different. It again has four tailpipes accentuating the black element in the bumper.

Dimensions: no change in trunk

A little bit has been added in almost every direction. 20 millimeters more length means now 4546 millimeters and 2670 wheelbase. 1445 millimeters of height means a plus of 25 millimeters. The width remains the same – 1800 millimeters. This also applies to the trunk capacity of 430 liters – in the mild hybrid it is 70 liters less.

Interior space: finally with Curved Display

With the facelift, the Series 2 Gran Coupé now has a Curved Display. It is familiar to us from all other BMW models. Predictably, the iDrive switch is missing. Instead of using it, the cockpit is controlled by touchscreen voice commands. This also means buttonless climate control for the Series 2 Gran Coupé.

On the center console there is a rotary switch that adjusts the volume and the audio system. Next to it is a switch for the movement modes. There are a few buttons left on the steering wheel, and the newly designed seats will provide greater comfort on a long journey.

Engines: The M235 is a bit underpowered

In terms of engines, BMW has shortened the options offered a bit with the facelift: customers can only choose between 4 drive options, with the base one being diesel. The 218d has 150 hp. These include two variants of the 220, a diesel with 163 hp. and gasoline with 170 hp, electrified as mild hybrids.

The top model and at the same time the only variant with dual drive is the M235. On paper, it becomes a little "weaker": with exactly 300 hp, with 6 hp. less than before the facelift and with 400 Nm of maximum torque (before it was 450 Nm). However, this does not reflect either the sprint to 100 km/h or the top speed of 250 km/h (limited. All variants are combined with a 7-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.
