Meet the forerunner of the new V-Class (VIDEO)

At the end of 2023, Mercedes unveiled a new electric platform for large limousines and light commercial vehicles called Van EA, and last December showed some first teasers of how people imagine the future V-Class. Here it is – it's called Vision V. We'll take a closer look at the studio magazin de piese auto online.

As with any other concept, the design is also crucial here. Starting at the front, we can't help but notice that presidential look, with this extra-wide, chrome grille, illuminated from the inside, surrounded by a frame that is also backlit. And speaking of lighting, here's the three-pointed star emblem, which is also illuminated. This is not visible when the headlights are off, but once the lights are on, it's hard not to notice. We find it quite extravagant! Continuing with the front hood, it has those typical Mercedes convex contours, called Powerdomes, which here even extend through the windshield into the cabin. Again, a very chic idea.

The headlights are made in a continuous, iridescent form, with many independent elements. The structure, as you can see, is open, and probably many of you have already seen the new CLA, there is also used this light graphic with the three-pointed star, which will also have the future V-class, respectively, the studio here has it. In general, everything is extremely wide, and this chrome hairpin further enhances this effect. The width of the car is about 2.10 m without the side mirrors. The length is approximately 5.5 m, which is quite serious. The rims are also quite large, they are 24 inches, they also have illuminated elements, chrome in their central part, and on the outside – made in matte.

The lighting is interesting not only at the front and in the design of the rims, but also in the rear area. In this case, we have completely framing rear lights, which somewhat interpret the design of the radiator grille. At the same time, they also contain the turn signals, as I hope you can see just as well on the screen. However, whether we will see it this way in the serial version, we do not yet know. More likely, we will not see it, because there is no trunk lid here. There is not even a trunk. We only have a rear window, which, thanks to a fine mesh in the style of a front plate, partially lets in the light. In the center is the logo with the inscription Vision V and if we now go down one floor, we will see this chrome rear diffuser. Everything is very chic.

As luxurious and exclusive as the studio looks from the outside, the interior is logically also executed in the same spirit. Let's start here at the front with the cockpit of the Vision V. The driver's seat, which Mercedes calls the "Omega structure", is about individual elements of the upholstery, which in serial production, alas, we will not see, because structurally it is absolutely impossible to integrate heating and ventilation into this configuration of seats. This steering wheel is already familiar to us in principle. This is a high-end version of the AMG steering wheel, and whoever has watched our video about the CLA has already seen this new infotainment system, this is the new MBUX system, with two 14-inch monitors and one 10.25-inch screen, respectively.

Here it is still in demo mode, because not everything is finally configured at this stage. As I already mentioned, from here we can see the sculptural elements that flow into the powerdom curves on the front hood. Another hit is found in this high-positioned center console, whose container is glazed. So you can see perfectly where you left your tablet and personal smartphone, and by the way - glass holders for objects, we also find here in the doors. In this particular case, a practical solution for sunglasses, and next to them an element of the sound system, traditionally made for Mercedes by the Burmester brand. All this is finally framed by this dark wood veneer. So much for the most interesting thing at the front, but now I promise we will see what happens at the back. It is definitely much more interesting there1 and I personally would even prefer not to necessarily be in the role of the driver here.

The entire performance – in our video!
