Renault 5 Turbo reborn as an electric car with 540 "horses" (VIDEO)

Renault has perfected its Holy Trinity. We have already introduced the Renault 5, then the Alpine A290 appeared, and now we have the Renault 5 Turbo 3e. Undoubtedly a beauty, in a form very close to serial production. Now we will take a closer look at it. If anyone now thinks that a conventional R5 is hidden under the sheet metal, then they are moving in a completely wrong direction, because this car has been completely redesigned. The platform is completely new, but it also has a body made of carbon fiber, and the chassis is made of aluminum. If we now return to the legendary Renault 5 Turbo from 1980, many of you probably remember that the model was characterized by its impressive width. This feature is also preserved here, because the model is 2.03 m wide. If we ignore the side mirrors, this car is 10 cm wider than the current BMW 5 Series amortizor portbagaj capota febi pret.

Looking at the rear of the car, we can clearly see how wide it really is. This feeling is further reinforced by the giant rear diffuser, which, however, only partially fulfills its function. In other words, everything here is actually tightly closed. At the moment, we still do not know whether this part will not be open in the production version, which would be great, because with this power we have here, a portion of additional aerodynamics would definitely not hurt.

Here we not only have 275 mm tires and 20-inch rims. Behind the wheels themselves we also have motors that directly drive their hubs. With this technical feature, the Renault 5 Turbo 3e, in case no one beats it before series production, will be the first production car equipped with an electric motor in the wheel hub. Even in this particular version, there are two motors in the wheel hub, because we have one on each side. In other words, this also means that the Renault 5 Turbo 3e arrives with full rear-wheel drive. As well as a total power of 540 hp. Although this is far from everything, because the torque here – now grab something very strong – is no less than an impressive 4800 Nm. OK, measured at the wheels, other manufacturers can do this too, but this remains an extremely high value. Get to know the entire presentation of the electric “runner” in our video:
