This is what the E30 M3 could look like in BMW's new design language
A modern BMW M3 in the style of the beloved E30 series? A digital artist created this look and showed what the 3 Series could look like as a 'Neue Klasse' piese auto BMW noi originale.
A nose with four headlights, an imposing front and clean lines throughout the body. Sounds like a classic BMW E30, doesn't it? Not only! Because digital artist Yin Lee showed on Instagram his interpretation of the 3 Series in the style of Neuen Klasse.
The BMW E30 is for many the embodiment of the BMW brand and one of the most sought-after old-timers. Especially the M3 (as a sedan), which, thanks to its large number of spoilers, stands out from the serial E30. Logical - after all, it concerns the homologation of the car by the DTM. Also the much rarer convertible M3 – only 786 examples were produced – is a revered model.
No matter whether sedan, convertible or Touring station wagon: Yin Lee has created versions in the modern design language of the three body variants of the M-version. Although the E30 Touring never existed as an M-version – much to the chagrin of fans.
Lots of parallels with the E30 M3
Comments on Instagram show that the models are well received and there are no criticisms regarding their appearance. The basic design is the same regardless of the body variant: four headlights, naturally nowadays with LED-lights, a massive front bumper, significantly more imposing than that of the original E30 M3, and classic ridge lines from front to rear.
Only a direct look at the rear does not reveal similarities with the original, here Ying Lee has focused on a narrow strip of light running across the entire width
The design of the station wagon also causes a lot of discussion. With only two doors, however, the Touring would be quite impractical. Fortunately, art doesn't have to be practical! However, we must not forget that BMW has nothing to do with these renderings.
